Cannibal Jeans

I buy my jeans from Old Navy because they're inexpensive and fit well. Unfortunately, the crotch wears out very fast. So annoying.

Anyway, I'm loathe to throw away a perfectly good pair of jeans because of one weak spot. So, I cut up one pair of jeans with crotch rips and used the patches to fix the other pair. Hence, cannibal jeans.

It's kind of embarrassing, but I'm 50 and don't give a shit anymore. Plus, I checked with my skinny friends and they said it happens to them, too.

I'm posting the repair progression below:

Here's the small hole that ruins the entire pair.

I cut all of my patches from the other pair of jeans in 3" x 3" squares.

Pin it:

Stitch it with a zig zag and repeat:

Rather than being embarrassed that I have these two ridiculous patches in my crotch, I went all in and kept going all the way down the leg so it looks like it's supposed to be this way:

Mostly, it takes the focus off the crotch and looks purposeful. I tried to take a photo in my closet because everyone else in my house has something legit to do and no time to take photos of my ass:

Terrible.

I like the way they look and will probably do more because I'm in a "mend and make do" mode.
